leet (leet).Hist. A criminal court. • The last remaining leets were abolished in England in 1977.

“Leet is a court derived out of the sheriff’s turn, and inquires of all offences under the degree of high treason that are committed against the crown and dignity of the king. But those offences which are to be punished with loss of life or member, are only inquirable there, and to be certified over to the justices of assise.
