ancient treatise on English law, composed in the 13th century and first printed in 1647. • The work
is largely derivative, being based on Bracton’s De Legibus et Consuetudinibus. The unknown
author may have been a judge or lawyer who wrote the treatise while in London’s Fleet prison. —
