DONATORY

donatory  (don-<<schwa>>-tor-ee  ordoh-n<<schwa>>-tor-ee),  n.  Scots law.  A  recipient  of  a

gift; specif., a donee of the Crown.

“A  donatory  is  the  donee  or  receiver  of  a  gift  or  donation.  In  practice,  the  term  is  applied

exclusively to the  person to whom the Crown  makes a gift, as of  escheat, ultimus haeres, or the
