DISME

disme  (dIm),  n.[Law French]  A  tithe; a  tenth  part, as  in a  tithe  due  the  clergy  equal  to  the

tenth  of all spiritual livings as required by the statute 25 Edw. 3, st. 7. • This is the  Law French

equivalent to the Latin decimae. It was once the spelling of the American 10-cent piece, the dime.
