ADSCRIPTUS GLEBAE

 

adscriptus glebae (ad-skrip-tuus glee-bee). [Latin “(a tenant) tied to the soil”] Roman law. A

tenant or serf bound to the land. • If the land was conveyed, the serfs were conveyed along with it,

but  in  other  respects  they  were  free  citizens.  —  Also  termed  glebae  ascriptitius.  Pl.  adscripti
