NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT

National Firearms Act.A 1934 federal statute that governs the manufacture, possession, and transfer of certain types of firearms and other weapons. • In its original form, the act banned gangster-type weapons, such as machine guns and sawn-off shotguns. It has been expanded by amendments to cover most rifles and handguns, and also “destructive devices” such as grenades and land mines.26 USCA §§ 5801 et seq.
